Thor EvansThe more I watch of Bruce Lee throughout the years...I appears that Ed Parker took Bruce's movements and added them to the existing techniques that he already knew. The reason why I say that is when I was in Kenpo, it was kinda of portrayed that Ed Parker and Bruce shared some ideas when Bruce stayed with him. But again over the years after watching many videos and appears that the sharing/influence on Kenpo was more on Bruce's Part. Just my 2 cents....

Newark Kenpo KarateI think it started with Chow. He was known for being innovative and when Parker tried to get him to come to the mainland to spread the art his plan was to collaborate with him. When Chow refused to leave Hawaii, Parker went on to follow his instincts and seek out further ideas and knowledge and Bruce Lee was a huge part of that. Parker was surrounded by the arts all of his life, including his aunties who knew Hawaiian Lua, and all the creators of Kajukenbo, Wally Jay and the jujitsu influences and all the Kung fu folks, including Bruce Lee. I believe he developed his art as a result of all these influences. You can see it in the art. Had he lived longer I believe he would have been drawn to explore ideas from the Filipino arts and incorporate more weapons use in Kenpo. Just my opinion. Great discussion!

Thor EvansThere is an opinion that Parker organized with wally jay, jiu jitsu guys etc....and Bruce started sharing his philosophy with all of them.....one theory out of many.
